    Hi there,

I'm a new member to the Omega forum and have just signed up having purchased my first Omega Constellation. I apologise in advance for what I can imagine may be a tiresome type of question, so feel free to ignore me if that is in fact the case.

Yesterday I blindly purchased a strapless Omega Constellation (see attached pictures) from a large website where I live in Norway. The watch should arrive on Monday, but I know absolutely nothing about it; I have not seen the condition of the internal movements and do not have a reference number to date the watch. In fact, I purchased the timepiece purely based on the pictures and the seller's explanation that he had inherited the watch from his recently deceased grandfather who was a watchsmith.

I'll obviously take the watch to a local watchsmith on Monday to get as much info about it as possible and to see if it needs a service, but Im so excited that I can't wait to learn more about it. I guess my question is, what have I purchased and should there be anything I should look out for? More importantly, is it possible to ascertain the strap size needed just by looking at these pictures?

Thanks in advance for your comments and contributions.

    Regards, Giancarlo

While @efauser is quite correct and that approach is recommended, you have been lucky.

You have an Omega Constellation (easy to see) CD168.017SP gold cap over stainless case with a stainless steel caseback. Caliber is most probably a 564. Dates from about 1970 or so.

    I think it's a very crisp watch.

My C case Connie takes an 18mm strap. I'm not sure if they all have the same lug width.

Thanks @JimInOz and @michael22, I appreciate your contributions. :) I should perhaps ask the watchsmith to measure the width for me when I take the watch in on Monday, just to be on the safe side.

Hopefully, I have been lucky @JimInOz as I whittled the seller down to 500 USD (looking at the current exchange rate).

You have a linen dial too it seems! [emoji7]
C-cases are quite undervalued and cheap still. I feel that they have a lot of nice dial designs and a value for money.

I'm not sure @kreyke. What makes you say that and is a linen dial a desirable characteristic?

Attractiv watch, congratz. Have no expirience in coonies, but I think that observatorie on the backcase is super super sharp. Am i correct?

A linen dial is named so because of the dial surface resembles woven fabric. It is common to see on C-case Constellations, not so much on other Constellations. Looks very nice :)

    Velkommen på forummet!

Well. Textured dials in general are more desirable. Haha. I'm not sure how familiar you are with omegas but arrowheads on a waffle dial are amazing pieces. Especially in real life.
