What else then magnetism can make a cal 1861 run this fast ?

Hi watchmakers and knowledgable members,

I see a Speedmaster ffor sale, so not mine, with these running specs ;
Daily Difference : +45 to +73 s/day
Amplitude : 218 to 255
Beat Error : 0.2 m/s
Frequency : 21600
age : 1995 - 97

and the first thing i think of is magnetism with this low amplitude which can be fixed in minutes (so why didnt the seller think of this) that makes me wonder what else could be cause number 2 , 3 etc ?
If it was never serviced it can be totaly worn but would run slower i think, or is the oil sticky or degraded which limits the movements swing but again it would be slower and not faster ?

Could be hairspring coils caught together by excess oil.

Lots of "could be's" until a watchmaker can inspect and diagnose the issue.

Thanks, and of course without the watch in hand it is a guessing game but is it less likely that it is from broken parts or worn out base plate fro example ? Just trying to work out the risk assessment.

This is the sort of assumption many people make, but quite often it's the opposite. Low amplitude means that the balance is not swinging as far in each cycle, so this can lead to a shorter period, and a higher frequency - meaning it runs faster. It doesn't always end up this way as there are a lot of factors involved, but it's not unusual for it to run fast as the amplitude is dropping.
