    Hi all,

I have just purchased a gorgeous vintage Omega Seamaster with product code "14700 4 sc" from my local watchmaker svajts.com.

I have looked up the code on the Omega website, but I haven't been able to find any info about what the "4 sc" stands for.

    Could you help me out?

Any other info that you might have about the watch would be greatly appreciated (e.g. materials etc.)

    Thanks a lot!

    Mikkel

The SC part means Center Seconds (as opposed to Sub Seconds). Its from the French words (Roughly translated, I got an "E" for French in grade 8 and dropped it the following year)

    "Le Cênérèë Séçôndsë"

    dsio,

That's great info - thanks a lot! Any idea what the "4" is about?

The closest model, I've been able to find on the Omega website, is this one:

    Reference: KO 14700
    International collection: 1960
    MovementType: Automatic (mechanical)
    Caliber number: 552
    Created in 1958
    24 jewels
    Central sweep-second hand
    Case: Gold-cap on stainless steel
    Case back: Screw-inDial
With hand-rivetted gold hour markers and "index" hands.
    Crystal: Armoured hesalite
    Bracelet: Leather
    Water resistance: 30 meters

    (Search "14700" at http://www.omegawatches.com/spirit/history/vintage-omegas/vintage-watches-database)

It looks almost identical, except for the dial, which has a slight texture.

I wonder if mine has gold hour markers and index hands, too?

    Again, thanks!

    Mikkel

The 4 is part of the model number, sort of like the 4th generation.
