What does "17 C" refer to on my WWI era Omega chronograph?

I've included pictures of other examples on vintage Omegas for reference. This is a c. 1915 - 1923 Omega chronograph, the same type as Lawrence of Arabia's. More info here. My best guess would be something about the metal content, or maybe service history given the watch's date of manufacture (~1917)? Does anyone know?
