What do you think of this Seamaster 600 PloProf?

Hello,

My uncle owned this watch. I don't have any details other than the fact that he used every day for several decades. He at some point changed the rubber bracelet that came with it.

Could you help me determine if it is an original watch? And if so, what would be its current market value?

Kind Regards,

Johnny

Great looking watch and it looks all original to me. A real survivor! What did your uncle do as a profession?

Here a fantastic resource for you to further your research/interest:

https://www.omegaploprof.com/

Even though your example is pretty beat up it retains it's sharp case lines, original bezel and the dial and hands have a nice faded patina. I think with a good service of the movement, new crystal and a good case clean it will come up really nice. It also has a correct 1162 which is good.

I think value wise I'd say as is €4K-€4.75K and if it was sympathetically restored a bit and serviced €6K+

Do not let anybody polish the case. Just a clean.

I've actually been wearing mine, and loving it, today!

Very cool Ploprof. Looks pretty nice and original to me. You can look at ebay to see what values look like. Hard to see the dial exactly, but it does look pretty nice.

I would sell it without servicing it. Someone might really dig its current state.

Looks legit. Lots of aging to the acrylic bezel insert. Could use a good cleaning I'm sure. But whatever you do, don't let anyone polish it.

I’m sure the real experts will chime in, but to my eye it looks as expected for a mid to late seventies one. I’ve no idea about prices though.

He was an industrial mechanic, but he also was and avid diver. He just loved the sea.

Here's a better condition one for $10k

Servicing is not cheap. Yours need service before it gets wet. Doesn't make sense to have a deep diving watch that can't get wet.

Cristos71 gave you great feedback. The other consideration depends on where you live, as tariffs have narrowed your options for selling.

Also, people love them or hate them. I am a lover. If you were in my town I'd be a buyer at $4k. Why? Needs service, kindof beat up, but in a good way. An auction house or ebay might get you more, but you have fees. A one on one collector might get you more. But you could have a hard time finding someone too.

It's a cool as hell watch. Maybe after reading more about it you'll like it enough to keep it. I've never heard of anyone like your Uncle who was the original owner and dove with it. Very cool.

Thanks for sharing
