Hello forum,

I found this connie. It looked great in person. However, I can't decide if it's original. IMHO, the case, medallion, crystal (singed), movement and font looked original. But, the crown was replaced with yellow gold. Onyx on markers were missing. The things that weren't quite right to me were hands and missing of serif. I couldn't find constellation with this type of hands as though they were from C-Shape model. Also I couldn't find example of text of 168.005 missing serif. Those made me doubt the authenticity of this watch. Seller asked for $1,650. What do you think of the authenticity of this watch?

Thank you in advance.

I thinks it's been repainted. No serif, markers are off, i think it used to have lume in the indicies and hands but was removed, the case is over polished, the caseback is funky with fading plating?
I would return it if you can.

If you’re talking about the medallion, it should be (albeit pressed/embossed) solid gold.

No, the gick all around the medallion. Looks like the caseback was plated and it is wearing off
Maybe it's tape?

Yes, it’s one of those case back stickers.

But I think it may be there with the intention to deceive.

The case back should have a flat field around the medallion.

More importantly, while the mid case looks more or less correct, the lugs on a gold capped dogleg should not have side facets like SS and solid gold and should look like this.

well, this model is gold capped. IMO the dial was repainted; wrong hands; missing onyx. The minute markers do not seem consistent, look closely at the 3 for example.

Oh ! that reminded me one of Desmond's article about fake 168.005. Thank you very much.
