I want to say that everything is original but the internal ring.

Still, the ring's font all seem correct and the font seems to be made of the same shinny material the rings on other subs have. Somebody retouched them at the factory, maybe? Or too messy?

    What do you guys figure?

I actually have read that helpful forum discussion.

Do you mean that it could simply be a matter of quality control? It seems like more than they would tolerate.

I hope that's what you meant.

Mido the Koala believes that this watch might be a countryman...

What EF Hutton, er...LouS said, and you're getting the full Monty there. it really is a very helpful chat.

Also, for me, ignoring the pitting, the colour of the hour plots on watch above seem a tad dissimilar to the hour & minute hands.

I'm fairly convinced it's just because of the light. I have the watch in my hands and they look like the same color.

I'll take my own pictures, when I get the chance.

Banana lume in the hands, and peanut brittle lume on the dial.

I took a close look in natural light and it seems there might be a very slight difference, you guys are right.

I found another with the same color scheme, I think.

    That's not what I meant.

They all look have the same color scheme. Because they are not naturally aged.

Look at the case on the one you are showing. Have you ever seen any case of any vintage Swiss watch ever - even cheapos - made of such poor quality steel with so much pitting?

I assumed that it had just had a rough life. But you've got to be right. It's just too bad.

Looks like I'll pass on it, then. It was a local (potential) deal.

So do you guys think this one was a fake, too?

It has virtually all the same issues as mine, including a pitted case. It just doesn't have the messy internal ring.

And what about this one? Also a fake? Same issues.

And here are two more with similar lume patterns.

And here's one with a messy ring:

I'm really intent on knowing because if there's a chance this is legit, I want to grab it.

Lous, I see your points. What you're saying is that there are so many bad eggs flooding the market, that it's actually not comforting for me to find so many that match the one I'm looking at.
