I was looking for a nice bumper or connie as a daily beater so I'm currently liquidizing my mediocre pieces and trying to find a nice daily vintage, would rather move away from Seamasters as this would be the obvious choice!

I like the early bumpers with second track dials in pink or yellow gold and preferably solid, but not necessity.

Any ideas or info greatly appreciated!

    Looking to spend around £450.

Not sure I would risk wearing my Centenary as a daily watch, lol!

I differentiate "beater" from "daily wearer".

To me, a beater a Seiko dive watch that I can buy and beat the sh.... snot out of and not give a da.... hoot what happens to it. If one day it stops, I toss it and buy another. Some would put G-shocks and other similar rugged + relatively cheap watches in this category.

A daily wearer, or daily driver as some say, is a nice watch you can wear casually that can cover many occasions. It's not something you would want to have on while changing the oil of your car or digging in the garden.

To that end, a nice 60's Seamaster full rotor would be a great choice.

I see what you mean. Well, at the moment I don't garden or fiddle with my car - I perform as a vocalist around the UK so a classy beater would do just fine! ;)

I saw this recently and thought it was quite nice.. Dial looks in good shape, only snag is no movement shots!

Think the dial furniture is pink gold which I really like!

Oh, so many jokes about needing beer to suffer through an opera! :p

Haha - yeah, it will surely ease my pain once I start the performances! I swear this is going to be good though. It's been condensed to only 70 minutes! ;)

I figure the more drunk your audience is the less likely they are to notice problems with the performance so I would guess no limit!

Though I wouldn't call it a beater... my Rolex Daytona 116520 is my daily wearer, and its a bit scratched up, so I guess some would call it a beater. Because its waterproof, still looks good in a suit, and doesn't matter if it gets too scratched, it qualifies where my vintage Omegas don't in that respect

I've been invited over there to perform in New York. And had lessons with a renowned teacher in Manhattan. I love the states. I may move there one day! :)

That's my kind of daily beater ;) I will find something robust but still smart to dress up with a suit etc...

Similarly, my submariner is my daily wearer. I wear my gold capped date at 6 waffle to switch things up and the 320 is for special occasions.
