Kind of a “ooooooo ::love:: oooo”

    Followed by an “aaaaaa:(aaa”

Sorry about the pusher, but it’s a nice looking piece

If I was forced to make a guess, I'd say you picked up something redialed to resemble a Breitling... Not an authority on Breitling to any extent though :D

I’m with you on this, but it’s also just a gut feeling rather than anything to do with expertise.

Looks a little sketchy to me, but I'd like to see more photos if you care to share.

That's a generic dial for lower-end chronographs. The odd number markers give it away. There are lots of similar ones badged to respectable but not especially glamorous makers. I'm guessing SS back and plated case? It might have a Landeron 248 inside, or a Venus 188 if you're lucky so as to make it seem like a real Breitling. It is IMO unlikely to contain a column wheel movement.

Ok ok, I now believe the movement and the case! But I still don't believe the dial as I've seen that marker style on many middling chronos but never a Breitling. It's obviously a repaint but the puzzle (to me) is why not reuse the original, unless it was badly dented.

    Howdy!

This looks like a Breitling 9121 chrongraph. See the link below. I've seen and handled a few of them before myself.

Hands are likely replacement considering I generally see the flat hands. Case are largely chrome plated as well in my experience. Hope this helps!

Doesn’t look good to my eyes. Perhaps you can supply a macro of the engraving on the bridge.

It looks like my gardener engraved it.

I see watches like this at least a couple times a week, cheap generic chronographs (and others) with refinished dials, re-stamped cases (fake name added) and fake engravings on bridges or plates.

Make sure to put the pusher back on!

I am not a fan of watches parading as something they aren’t, but I still think it’s a nice looking piece. Depending on what you paid, I might keep.

Plus, and most importantly, this watch (“dud”) isn’t likely going to push you over your insurance policy limits so you can fill up your watch case again!

In that link it describes the movement as a Valjoux 77 - surely that's not what's inside this one?
