What can you tell me about this Omega Seamaster Automatic?

This watch was given to my father back in the 80's I think after 50 years of service. Dad has passed on now, and Mum is offering it to me as she knows I'm into watches.

I don't know much about it, but keen to find out what it's worth. I would never sell it, but just wondering if it's worth fixing up? Guessing they didn't use sapphire crystal by the look of the scratch. Apparently he only wore it about 5 times because he was afraid he might lose it.

Would love your feedback, as mum doesn't have any papers for it.

It can't be younger than 1986, as that's when I think he retired. I've scoured the Omega database, but can't find this one, although they are missing pics on a lot of them. The lugs appear to be chamfered a bit which rules out a number of similar ones, and some that looked close only had "Swiss" rather than "Swiss Made" on the dial @6.

Could there be a model number under the case back if I open it up? Only other alternative is to go to Omega themselves.

Have a watchmaker pop that baby open, and find the numbers on the movement and the caseback inside, and all shall be reveled!
