What best alternative to Photobucket?

    Enough is enough.

I've used photobucket since way into the last decade, but performance has dropped so badly over the last couple of years that it's actually become totally useless. Uploading anything takes forever, linking is dog-slow, ads are getting more and more intrusive, downloading don't even think about it, etc...

What free image hoster that offers reasonable and reliable performance, enough storage space, as well as some "folder" organization and sport a user-friendly smartphone app are you guys recommending?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi,
I totally agree on your opinion about photobucket.
What about using google as an image hoster?

    Cheers

Imgur will do the trick. Easy to use and img code to drop into "image unfriendly" forums (unlike OF) is easy. I've used quite a few over the years and to date Imgur is a winner.

    I use the 'bucket too.

I have noticed the pop-up adds, but I haven't noticed any performance issues for me here in rural NSW.

That said the whole internet here is slow, so maybe it hides any site-related issues.

Do you know if there's a simple process of transferring images from one to the other service?

I'm not averse to switching, just don't want to be dragging a bazillion photos over one at a time

Not really sure on that, but I'd be surprised if someone somewhere hasn't worked out a way to do it. Try sending support a request: https://help.imgur.com/hc/en-us

    Good idea!

I've just sent them a message and will report back when I hear from them.

Thanks folks. Looks like Imgur doesn't do folders, though - which is a prerequisite for me (vs. dumping everything in one place) as I have litterally thousands of pics to work from, all sorted by theme/data stuff...

    Am I misreading imgur's functionalities?

    Thanks,
    Paul

There are occasional "outages" on PB when I'm trying to upload, but generally I don't see problems with it or pop-up ads...I do use the pro version though...

I use photobucket for watch photos, mostly works well. Well enough that I am not motivated to change.

For family photos we use SmugMug & it is a very flexible & user-friendly platform.

Long time user at www.flickr.com here - great resource!

(I've found a certain member from these pages there, too. Hint: originally I thought he REALLY liked Microsoft Network ;) )

FACEBOOK is probably the best site to hold all your images, think about it.... There are no limits to photos or videos. Albums can be as big as you want and its FREE... If you are concerned about privacy, set everything to where noone can see your page.

And hosting sites like Photobucket keep ur photos private? I don't know what cocoon you live in?
