They are redundant to each other IMHO. Yes the 8500 has the slightly better dial, and more technologically advanced movement, but they are at the end of the day the same watch with 1 huge difference. If you ever see both side to side the thickness of the 8500 is hard to get past. I actually prefer the bezel on the 2500 as it directly ties back to the original 300m, and if I dare say it is more true in some ways to the 300m then the 300MC.
I hate to say this to the 8500 owners out there, but with the 3rd gens out, and then also being thinner, the 8500 has sort of become the also ran. Yes there are some killer versions out there, with great dial and bezel combos (all blue ceramic), but the regular ones I feel will become unloved, with the 1st gen 2500 (esp 2500d) at 42mm going to be future collectables. Heck I own a 3313 1st gen POC and as great of a watch as that is, I will admit that in the future the black dial, white numbers 2500 at 42mm is going to be the most valuable PO out there.
PS
I never noticed that the 2500LE had the 2nd gen style bezel and not the 1st gen style bezel. Not sure how I feel about that as it no longer mimics the 300m bezels.
