You got to love the Aussie wine growers for the names they come up with if nothing else :)

Heck the watch is great and so is the Pappy 15 year old ;-) Check out the waiting list, not to mention the price for Pappy 23 year old ;-(

I haven't had 23 yet, but I've had 10, 12, 15, and 20, with 10 and 15 in stock at the moment. It helps to be friends with the liquor manager of the best local liquor store. :p The problem with 23 is that the store staff demands it first, so it's not even available to the best customers...but I have faith that I'll get a bottle eventually! Thanks for the compliment about the watch. :) It's new, and either my first or second favorite!

Very timely. Just grabbed this bottle as I was packing to head out for a 4 day vacation. IMG_20141122_160139.jpg

"Willy Willy" went down very well with some roast fillet tail in a red wine jus and butter mash :)
Sure beats the usual pie and beans ;)

Drink is dinner... Spinach, kale, romaine, parsley, apples and lemon - tastes better than it looks/sounds..

Apple/rose hip mead. Not sure it was the flavours preferred a thousand years ago, but it is darn good

From Down Under, Barossa 2010, a nice red blend of Shiraz, Cabarnet & Merlot. :)

Got to support the Aussie economy...

A staple at my house - either 2008 or 2009 Huet Vouvray (Le Haut Lieu Moelleux):

It has enough acid and residual sugar to stand up to strong cheese, goes good with Chinese food, and is an all around favorite among friends and family who enjoy either dry or sweet wine...... kind of like the Goldilocks white. And yes, we buy it by the case as evidenced by the picture above.

For the wine guys, it's not the ultimate pairing with cheese - but the best value. Huet's 2002 Clos du Bourg Moelleux is drinking perfect now and puts most medium (demi-sec/semi-dry to moelleux/mellow) whites to shame except 1990 J.C. Pichot de la Moriette, but with the 2002 at nearly twice the price it would pay to cellar a case of the 2009 Huet. VERY similar characteristics to the 2002 and I'm betting the 2009 will equal the 2002 when it matures in a few years. 2008 is noticeably sweeter and approaches a dessert wine so it's better to drink stand-alone. The only other vouvray maker to consider (if you even bother with whites) is Foreau.

With a fellow watch collector friend this afternoon, and Hamilton and bubbleback bonanza between us, we sipped some of this:
