I'm looking for a vintage Seamaster preferably 60's with a 500 series movement (though I'm flexible) gold and black with a waffle dial. I've been looking everywhere I can and I've not come up with much in terms of reference, how tough to find would this watch be? or something similar or comparable?

I think the watch I attached is actually earlier than the 60's but its the closest thing I can find to what I can imagine.

Here's a thread with these sort of dials. They are out there but there aren't a lot of original dials in the style you want. I would call this a honeycomb dial, not waffle so that may help.

My impression is that these are generally a 50s style so a bumper automatic (330 series such as 351, 354 etc) or a 500 series (501, 503 etc) are the likely calibres.

I may be wrong but if you're thinking a 561 or 565, that would be a 550 series calibre from the sixties. All of the series I mentioned are excellent but the older you go, the scarcer the parts and the more chance they will have issues.

    Good luck! Chris

Look for case reference 2846/2848/2849 for a full rotor caliber 50x. The caliber 503 with the date window at 3 isn't too hard to find.

For a bumper calibers you'll find several styles, with or without date windows:

    2576, 2657, or 2766 - 344, no-date, sub seconds
    2577 - could have a 342 sub seconds no-date, or a date-at-6, center sweep seconds, 353 or 355
    2757 or 2627 - 353 or 355, date-at-6, center sweep seconds
    2767 - 354, no-date, center sweep seconds

That should get you started. There are a few more references, but I forget what all the possibilities are.

EDIT: you won't have much luck in the 60's - the 50's were the decade for black waffle dials.

Thanks for the compliment but my humble collection of black dials isn't a scratch on those of @MSNWatch who has an incredible selection. Just to add to the list of @ulackfocus there are also the Seamaster chronometer references 2518, 2519, 2520 and 2521. I'm not sure black waffles can be found in all of these ( I don't remember seeing a 2518 with black waffle ) but the 2520 and 2521 are certainly to be found

Here are two of my favourites, a 2520 cal 354 chronometer and a 2846 cal 501.
