I'm interested in buying this IWC. What do you think about the condition and is the movement original?
If that’s an original IWC Gay Freres bracelet, yes. If not, then could be on the high side. I don’t think the value of these is going up right now. However, that could change at any moment. gatorcpa
Looks correct to me too. Service hands though... 1F endlinks are correct for a YC and the bracelet links look correct also, so if the clasp is right I would say asking price is very fair
Looks good. If you have the full movement and case serial numbers, you can use this tool to get dates: http://moeb.on-rev.com/dyIWC/dyIWC.irev The cushion case isn't as desirable as more classic case shapes, but as mentioned above, a correct bracelet adds a lot of value.
The bracelet is genuine, though the oyster style bracelets are typically preferred on the Yacht Clubs, and command a higher premium.
While I don’t have the “sportier” Yacht version ...I do have the 854B and 8541B in my IWCs. ( in the less desirable C case and pillow as Dan S attests ) ..These ( post 1967) movements are the last refinements of the 85 cal ..arguably IWCs finest ... while I usually don’t collect a watch strictly for its movement , I knew I wanted an IWC with its Pellaton wind and Breguet overcoil ... now I have two. I like the warm subtle silver sunburst dial of yours. Vintage IWC dials are classic IMO ...
