Can you please clarify case metal combination for this watch (14393 case no.)? I wrote to Omega official website and they sent me a pdf data sheet with OT 14393 code which i found is gold case, but I think it is not. The watch has not arrived yet, still awaiting dispatch. Thanks
It is gold capped. That is a relatively thick layer of gold is bonded to base metal (usually steel). More information here: http://users.tpg.com.au/mondodec//GoldCap.pdf Most of the more common Constellation case references from the 1960's came in 18K gold, 14K gold (for US market), 14K gold-capped and steel. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
I reckon Actually this watch was not my no.1 on the list in terms of preference But it "happened" that I won this one over some Seamasters and Devilles on steel or gold plate, various calibres (6xx. 10xx, 7xx), and even a Zenith that I also liked. I also bid for some of them but no success. After more reading and advice on this forum considering the condition and the caliber inside I was consolated Am I to be kicked out of here if I confess that a Longines Flagship really appealed to me? Something like this one http://www.kalmarantiques.com.au/vintage-longines-flagship-watch-p142.aspx
I certainly won't send you packing. http://omegaforums.net/threads/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-aka-incoming.6906/ You could find better specimens than the one you linked to.
