A few years ago an artist put fibreglass zebras next to ahighway betwen Sydney & Canberra. They were obvious for miles, & caused people to stop at the nearby reststop, as we did. I walked over for a closer look, & started talking to a guy who turned out to be the artist. He said vandals were driving out at night time to paint the stripes off.

 

Painted mules and ponies are often used as doubles for Zebra in motion pictures. IIRC the zebra Sheena queen of the jungle rode in movies and TV was a painted horse.

I know this occurred 21 years ago…but in South Yorkshire,… that’s yesterday

 

Just bizarre. Love that they insisted it was a real zebra. Clearly the wrong bezel and an obvious redial.
