My husband inherited his Grandfather's watch several years ago but has never worn it. It's been in a cupboard ever since. He is considering selling it but isn't sure how to go about it and how much it's worth. Has anyone got any advice please. It is a 0mega constellation 1958 and has the original box, receipt, guarantee booklet and certificate. His Grandfather had it serviced in 1994 and payed £420. The receipt is also in the box
Looks very nice. It's great to see the supporting items as well. Thanks for sharing the watch in your photos. I'm going to let someone with more Constellation expertise explain whether the crown could be original or has been replaced.
I would love to see an in-focus, head-on shot of the dial... It might just be me, but every time I see something looking that white, I suspect redial. Welcome to the forums, Lindsay!
A fascinating slice of history! The jeweller which sold the watch in 1958, B.P. de Silva, is still in business today here in Singapore, and they indeed did own a shop on High Street back in the 50's and 60's.
Looks like it is seen quite a bit of polishing, is missing a crystal retaining ring and has also had a redial to me which will limit the value as these are more often than not bought by collectors. The box and papers will help it on its way of course. I think the best bet with this one would be the old OF favoured advice for watches like this - an Ebay auction with good pictures, an honest description, starting at $0 and with no reserve. The market for redialed Constellations is quite thin but you never know on the day what might happen. Had the watch not been redialed and quite heavily polished it would have been a different story and your message box would probably already have had a couple of messages from interested parties.
