...failed to get any pictures of watches. Was slightly distracted by all of the Aston Martin stuff... including the things we weren't allowed to take pictures of. Thanks to James for the invite, and to the Lonville team for being so much fun!
I see an English wheel there, very cool. Looks a good day out. Used to live within half a mile of the factory in Newport Pagnell. Great cars Cheers, Chris
Yes! They were showing us how they custom make body panels... and the newly built jigs for the DB5 after the others wore out. The levels of skill and craftsmanship on display was mind blowing. 150 hours to remake the front panels in aluminium...
Not that they told us They just have rules about taking pictures of customer cars... the ones for sale, or that red one that's had the plates removed, and has yet to be pulled into the workshops, they were OK with
The value under that roof is probably astronomical. I can understand why they don't want their customer's cars on the web without their control. Looks like a fantastic event.
Totally beyond comprehension... Zagato custom bodied cars, LeMans race cars, Pebble Beach concourse winners... I think... 100+ cars inside the building in various states of fettle. I came away lusting after an early 1980s V8 Wolfpack, and a 2004 V8 Vantage...
Thx for sharing... that red "Goldfinger" DB5 has a yellow and a clear headlight... for a right hand drive. 1960s & 1970s French automobiles used to have these "ugly" yellow headlights
£400k plus tax. They have a set price for a full heritage restoration... and depending on how much the car needs, I'd imagine they lose out a little sometimes. There was a stunning DB6 MK2 indoors, 500 hours into it so far, and it's still a shell with the running gear next to it.
I did think that I was probably way off the mark.. but £500k inc tax, is insane.. Especially when not so long ago, you could pick up minty DB6's for £100k How about this DB6 Vantage Volante from a 2006 auction... http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/14257/lot/138/?category=list&length=100&page=2
There's probably an interesting correlation between classic cars and classic watches in terms of price rises ... What did you think of the Lonville watches? I had a look at their web site - no prices mentioned so I assume a lot
They're not my thing - white gold, larger dress style watches, with features that don't flick my switch. That's not to say they aren't well made, and beautifully designed - just not my style. As to pricing... no idea, but I'd guess not cheap... those cases are solid white gold, and not light.
