I had to gamble a bit on this one: quite bad pictures were posted on this ebay auction. Made a price proposal and succeeded for 480€

After chrystal polishing and watchband refitting it turned out to be an excellent condition one in very good working condition also.

Got a phone call from the seller: Bought it from first owners daughter, she said it had been purchased by her father in Buenos Aires in the beginning of the 60ies.

No, just the watch, took the box for optical reasons only

Case looks to be in good condition from those photos. Quite sharp edges!

    Bravo!

IMO, while not as inherently "Constellation-ish" as the pie-pan dial, the dome dial variants are absolutely lovely. The tired old "looks bigger because of XXXXX" that insecure men use about their 34-35mm watches can be applied to this when comparing against the pie-pan versions. I have had a few of them and think that I have a cal. 551 brother to yours lying around somewhere.

This is one of my old ones:

I think I like the version with the vertical lines (like yours) better than the ones with the sunburst finish.

Congrats on a great buy

Hi, thank you very much for the informations on ther vertical lines...

Didn't knew that there are such ones and was afraid that this could be a kind of damage...

I have mostely seen sunburst ones so far...

    Very valuable information for me

You can tell its real if it is on a spidel twistoflex nobody after 1984 would be caught dead with a twist-o-flex. My constellation came on one and the box the original band tossed away

Think one or two gold versions also don't but haven't looked that much into it.

    Vertical lines you say?

I picked up one of his brothers for significantly more a few weeks ago. Funny story.

    Fantastic watch isn't it.

@Passover, @ConElPueblo Do you have any idea if the crowns we have are original? Before I saw this thread I thought mine wasnt, and all connies had the same distinct crown, but now that I see the same crown on the same watch im starting to wonder....

Would need better pic of your crown but it doesn’t look original.
    Nice watch though.

Really like the braclet on yours ::love::

Get yourself Polywatch and you'll have a shiny and clear chrystal soon.
Tried it myself the first time, its amazing

I'd be very surprised if that crown wasn't a service replacement. The one on the second of my posted Constellation is, most likely, original while the first is a replacement.

@Peemacgee @ConElPueblo Thanks for the help, I like a bit of extrapolating from a base of two, but good to know so i can get the correct one fitted.

@Passover Yeah I'm hoping it will clean up nicely!
