If it's of interest, Rolex will be increasing there prices in the UK by 5% from the 1st of October. I would say get in quick, but...... The waiting list is... Well, you know.LONG!!!! Let's see if they start flowing for Xmas
It will be interesting to see who gets the calls from the AD's to tell them that the piece is available that they've been waiting for is in. Let the list begin ....
For the fun of it I went to a Rolex dealer here in the Phoenix Arizona area. God what a pitiful selection. A few ladies a watch and a couple dress models for the guys. Obviously they don't believe in walking out the door with one. Not much in the instant gratification department are they.
The AD's don't even get to touch many of the tool watches and datejusts. Basically drop shipped to an address where the AD isn't required to collect sales tax lolzzzzz...
It's almost like Rolex only wants people to buy used and vintage ones. I'm not sure I see the business sense in this.
To be fair, Rolex ADs have been saying that prices increases are coming for the longest time. It is part of their sales tactic to get you to commit to a purchase before the "price increase" comes in.
I am sure there is some sales algorithm that tells Rolex the optimal number to produce to keep a constant demand year after year after year that produces the highest profit.
No Rolex AD has ever said this to me. What I have been told is that Rolex doesn't let ADs know in advance, and that usually it takes a change in currency value or the price of precious metals to cause an increase in existing models. The last time there was an increase in the US (4-5 years ago), the retail price did not change. Instead, the ADs had to cut their margin so the increase was not passed on to consumers. I've only seen this "increase is coming" stated on watch forums, which are fantastic sources of completely false information. This is for the US only. In the UK and other markets, there are other things going on that have messed with pricing.
