Came off a 1972 Speedy Pro. I also checked it against a 3594.50 case back and they are different as it lacked the textured center area (last photo). Looks like the caseback got through factory without being stamped with the lettering.

Looks legitimate and surely rarer than the 220 bezel.

Was not machined off as you can see where the caseback holes are the distance from the edge of the circular brush is still a good distance and it would take a bit of grinding down to where you would need to remove the lettering if you compare again there is a difference visibly seen. Kind of weird IMO.

For those without the book (A Journey Through Time). The text says that case ref ST 145.0022 from 1971 and onward used the case backs: "Speedmaster medallion stamped in the centre, alone or surrounded by the circular inscriptions Flight-qualified by NASA for all Manned Space Missions (on the top) - The First Watch Worn on the Moon (on the bottom).

    Also, from the "Moonwatch Only":

145.0809 is the moonphase from 1985-1988 range. The share the same looking case back but different engraving inside. The ones above are from 71/72 era and very uncommon
