Hi good-folks
Im looking for a 18k constellation. preferably with a 18k bracelet. Its just something that has been on my list for a while.
I have found some examples but Im wondering how much value there is in the gold(just out of curiosity)
Say a connie with bracelet is 100g with a 564 movement. How much is the movement weight?
Have good weekend馃榾

Talking about scrap value of collectible watches on the forum, especially at a time when the price of gold is very high, makes me a little nervous. The collectible value of a nice 18k Constellation exceeds the scrap value by a huge amount. So I really don't understand why this information would be relevant to someone who is legitimately looking to add a watch to their collection.

It is not like im searching for the scrap value. I think my collection at this point proves that I really like watches of all shapes brands and material.
But as a curious person I cant help but wondering what the weight of the movement is. Just as a knowledge based inquiry. Maybe I phrased myself in a bad manner.
I searching for a gold constellation because its something I really like, not because of the gold value or to speculate. But there are a lot of different prices and shapes of both connie and braclet.

Edit: I would never consider scrapping a vintage watch. I thought it was a totally legitimate thing to wonder, but maybe the climate makes the question look.. Speculative. That was not my intention or reason.

I agree, but I really don't think it has much to do with the value of the gold, so I still don't understand why this information would be helpful.

However, I found an old thread where @Edward53 posted an approximate weight for 500-series movements. I don't really want to post a link, but perhaps you can send him a PM.

I too feel a little nervous quoting figures but will say that you also need to consider the weight of the crown, dial and crystal too, all of which may be not gold. In addition some models have a metal spacer round the movement which can be quite heavy.
