    Well this is disappointing...

I was snorkeling off of Komodo last week and discovered a couple drops of water got into my PO. I'm not sure how that could have happened. I've been snorkeling with the watch before and never had any problems.

Has this happened to anyone else?[IMG]

bummer! :( that's unfortunate, but there is not a perfect man-made system out there -- even the best of the best will fail at some point. It will need fast attention to prevent further damage.

Yeah, the frustrating thing is I can't get it to an Omega dealer until I return to the US in October.

Make sure you get the back off quick and flush with fresh water and dry with hair dryer.

Really? That sounds kind of dangerous. Won't that void the warranty?

perhaps a local watchmaker can open and do some first aid until you get back...

I'll have to find a repair place. I don't have anything that'll get the back off, unless you have some advice on that.

Just search google " Rusted watch movement " our resident watch maker @Archer has a few threads on here and other forums.

Go to the closest jewellery store that sells watches

    Hi @cdsdss

So Sorry to hear about water condensation beneath the crystal. I have a LM Ti PO so i know your frustrations

    Just a quick question Sir[IMG]
So the Komodo Islands are NOT Off Limits to tourists & we are allowed to swim & dive in the nearby waters ?[IMG]I mean really...like safe with these Jurassic creatures roaming around...?

Your first priority is to get that water out of there. Afterwards you should take it to a watchmaker and have them check it out for you. It's possible that a service might be required. Technically it should get serviced because water might have mixed with the lubricants on the inside and that's not a good thing.

Short answer: Yes. I went on a day trip that included hiking at Komodo National Park and snorkeling in some areas with large manta populations. It was latter that did in the PO. Both trips were part of the Eco-tourism Indonsia is trying to develop. The Komodo portion was led by a guide who had a pointy stick, so we were perfectly safe. :p image.jpeg

Sorry to see this happend. If I see correct on pictures this is not condensation....this is water damage, and if it "touch" the dial, even if cleaned it will leave some marks. I bet guy who will open the watch first will get some "ocean-water-air" in nose. Belive me, it does not smell nice.

Probably it will turn out just fine afther cleaning and service.

    Cheers, Al

Yes, I had this issue with PO 8500.
It brought me to conclusion that for a real water sport you should limit your watch choice to Rolex or Seiko.
That's why my sport watch is GS SBGA031, which I find absolutely trustful.

Bummer! I have my watches pressure tested each spring in hopes of avoiding this.
