I found this non-working Omega Seamaster 300 in my father's estate, any thoughts on getting it restored? I'd like to save the dial. Omega SM 300.JPG He was an avid sailor and probably got it wet and tossed it a drawer years ago.

    Really nice watch.
Don't send it in Omega. They will change dial, hands and bezel.
Do you know a good watchmaker? Where are you from?
    Could you provide better pics?

Yes, the markers at 3 & 9 appear to be stubbies. It reads "certified high pressure waterproof seamaster" around the seahorse logo.

The brown gunge appears to be casting a shadow on the 10 marker, which would mean it's on the crystal.

Rust on the glass comes from below. Should be an interesting reveal when you open the case back (done by a watchmaker, please).

You have something of value here. Please don't attempt anything yourself.

Closed 6 and 9? Not sure that is correct. But I will bow to the experts on this forum.

I'm a noob but I have been reading about this reference a fair bit cus I like it. :) The stubbies and closed numbers are both called out as things to look for in fake dials on this (great) site:

We need clear pictures. The "automatic" looks suspect, but the pics are blurry and not close enough to say for sure what is going on.

Kingsrider - thanks for your response. The dial is "fogged" or clouded and the hands don't move, also I am using my iPhone's camera. I'll try again, but I'm not sure if I can do much better. The only way to really improve the picture would be to open it up - which (while I do have a Visegrip) I'm not qualified to do. Thanks again for your thoughts.
