Watchville app aggregator is going away… any backup solution?

I don’t know how many of you, my fellow OF members, have used the Watchville article aggregator, but I can say that I have been an avid user as it is super helpful to get a sense of the latest articles published, all wrapped in a decent interface.

Anyhow, this app belongs to Hodinkee (same investors) and I just learned that the app will be retired (one more nail in the H-coffin IMO, as they have really been going down the wrong path for the last 3-4 years IMO, but that’s another discussion altogether).

So, my question to the community: do you know of other similar apps? If not, what could be a backup solution?
(I was thinking that alerts can be set up on web browsers running Windows or even OS, but not sure on mobile platforms like iOS).
Any comments are welcome!

I have been using it for a while and today the new app released directing to download it within the existing app. Looks like having the same functionality with a bit facelift.

In any case, the latest version already dropped the “Time” tab… which I used extensively to set my watches. 🙁

But, but, but, if you're using a phone, doesn't it already tell you the time???

Yes, but it does not chime the last 5 seconds for an exact setup. 😉

I am aware of Hodinkee, but the big advantage of Watchville is that it would aggregate many/most of the watch outlets… not just the ‘dink, which I feel has really gone down significantly the last 2/4 years.
Well, I hope that someone will pick up the idea because such an aggregator does overall generate more traffic across all platforms, rather than having to open each website one by one.

What about All Watch News App?

Is it ios only? I don't see it in the android play store. I'm super annoyed. I used to browse Watchville daily. Like I needed more reasons to be annoyed by Hodinkee.

I run iOS so I can’t comment on the android situation, but I am with you when it comes to the ‘dink…

I've just downloaded All Watch New (IOS) and it seems like a decent substitute for Watchville.

D'oh, wish I didn't upgrade to the latest Watchville app. Found this link too late...

All Watch News looks pretty decent, thanks for the suggestion!
