My Rolex Air-King Date. One owner (me), won it in a Rolex sales contest in 1970. Updated with a NOS Rolex 14-karat gold bezel to celebrate 50 years (golden anniversary) of ownership, earlier in 2021.

Nice idea! 👍
I join with a #confirmed 1970 Mark II

Always interesting to see things like this, just goes to show that you can't go by the websites that date your Speedy etc. based on movement serial number as that one would have been comfortably within '69 going by the serial.

I'd love to get extracts for a couple of mine but can never face the outlay(plus my wife would kill when I tell her what the money was spent on).

Haha yes for the Seamaster I posted today I thought it could also have been 1969.
If I use https://www.ilovemyspeedmaster.com/productiondateprediction/ for the Mark II it actually says May 1970 which is pretty good I would say.

I have been lead to believe this dates from 1970.
If the first digit in the serial number is “0”, that is likely correct (unless it is 1980).

Maybe 71 in that case?

Very interesting indeed. I always thought my own Mk2 was 1969 going by the serial number, but using the site you link to above comes back as June 1971(makes sense as mine is in the 316xxxxx range so a good bit higher than yours). Might spoil myself some day and get an extract, especially as that watch has established itself as a definite keeper at this point.

Their nice little watches aren't they? Solid with a nice screw down caseback. I like them a lot.
