We all have some sort of interest and/or personal link to a specific year. Might be your birth year, the year you got engaged/married, got a child, or the year where happened an event that is somehow special to you.

Besides your special event, there is no doubt that lots of different watches were produced that year.

I often see people asking for help to :

- find a specific watch model from a specific year
- assess the variety of watches produced on a specific year

The purpose of this thread is to log photographs and details of different watches from the year 1969 owned by members of the OF Community.

Rules for posting

- watches from all brands are allowed, as long as they are from the year 1969
- if you don't have any evidence to claim the year (extract from archives or sales papers), please do mention #estimated
- if you own evidences to claim the year, please do mention #confirmed and please elaborate on evidences available (extract from archives or sales papers) posting evidences is not mandatory
- it is obvious that a watch can be produced on a specific date confirmed by an extract from archives, or sold on a specific date confirmed by sales papers. To simplify, both are admitted here, please do elaborate on your references
- commenting is obviously allowed and encouraged, OF etiquette highly recommended

Let's make of this thread an EPIC collection of watches made or sold in 1969 !

Caseback indicates 1969. I gave this to my little brother for his 50th birthday in 2019.

I was specifically looking for a watch from the 1960s so that I could update my Speedmaster Decades Collection. Most of the Mark II are from the 1970s, and it just so happened that I found this one from Dec 1969. Thank you to @kov for this one.

Charging right in and ignoring questions such as: what counts?

date movement was cased
date complete watch was shipped from manufacturer with box, etc
date watch was received by country importer after passing through Customs
date watch was received by retailer from importer
date watch was received by customer

May I present:

received by customer February 1970 (invoice #confirmed) so high probability of 1969 assembly & shipment from manufacturer

And now this, the movement was only made for a few months in 1969 before urgent modifications were made and calibre re-labeled, however the question is "Did a batch of "old" movements have to be used up?" So I'll give it a high probability of 1969 manufacture, when it was sold is anyone's guess -- not a prolific manufacturer by then and not well known in Europe nor for chronographs.

1969 Caravelle “Sea Hunter”....like its parent company, Bulova, Caravelle marked its case backs with letter-number date codes - in this instance “M” for the decade of the 1960s and “9” designating 1969.

One year only model, Bulova “Sky Star” - confirmed by letter-number production date code on the inside of the case back.
