Greetings OF fam I have come across this Watchco sm 300 with an interesting notch in the bezel at 12. I have read somewhere that this was an earlier service item. This notch is absent from newer watchco's that I see online. Does anybody have any other information about this? Also, on another note, I have always had issues identifying whether a bombe lugged case was polished or not (save for the really obvious ones). Could anyone help me identify whether this one has been polished? Thanks so much as always!
Case looks fine, but I'm not seeing the "notch" you mention at 12 on the bezel. Could you draw in an arrow pointing to it perhaps?
I see it in the top picture. My Sinn 903 has something similar. I assumed it’s to remove the bezel with a case knife.
Thanks so much for the replies. As Foo2rama said, the notch can be seen in the first photo - it is located at the section where the bezel and case meets. I am currently out but will update the photo with an arrow when I get back. Most logically, it probably is a practical addition for easier removal of the bezel. But it would be interesting to hear some insight as to why Omega discontinued this in newer service bezels.
I believe the railmaster trilogy version also has this notch, except it's on the case instead of the bezel.
Quite interesting isn't it. Do you know when your Watchco was put together? Photos would be great too
I see your notch now, thanks. I looked at my 2 vintage and 1 Watchco Seamasters and don't see any notches on case or bezel..
Mine has no notch. Mine is a "watchco" as well but wasn't assembled by them. Assembled around two years ago.
Mine is from this year and not from watchco. To see it I need good light and a magnifying glass. If you look closely at the gap between the case and bezel, you can see how the gap changes towards 12. I should take a photo of it in the daylight, this is possible at the earliest next weekend.
