I'm planning on wearing my Omega Seamaster on weekends at best. Is it better to wind the watch manually when I'm about to put it on or place it in a winder? Is an inexpensive winder such as a Versa any good? Which watch winder direction is best for the 2500c caliber?

    Thanks,

    Ignacio

I'd vote for manually winding it.

I bought a winder and quit using it. For the modern pieces that could run constantly and I wouldn't care it's just not all that hard or time consuming to set everything; besides if you are a anal freak like me the time after a couple of days will have to be adjusted anyway on most watches. For the vintage stuff that takes more effort to set up I decided I didn't want to add the mileage. The winder now sits there just holding watches on display.

Thanks. I'm definitely anal about the time, comparing time with the clock on my Watchville app.

Ditto with ahsposo. Bought one, now just an expensive display. I feel the same way.

I have just seen a Wolf Winder in a shooting forum I'm on. Single watch, looked as new for £100

Happy to try and connect you if you're interested.

Use the search feature here on winders. Tons of advice and info.

Unless you have a watch with a complication that is seriously difficult to reset, I would not use a winder. Like it is said earlier in this thread, I would not like the mileage on my watches...

I bought THIS ONE from Amazon. $50, not real stylish, but it works well and it's silent.

A 3-watch Wolf winder here. Couldn't be happier. But everyone has a different preference.

As I've stated before I've got 2 but I almost never use them. At most I'll throw my beater skx on one if I'm wearing it and will be wearing it again in a few days.

I have a Wolf, works pretty well but I do leave them off from time to time to wind down. I would imagine if I got a complication like an annual calendar or moonphase, I would be more apt to keep it moving so to speak.

Orbita makes the best winders. If you want a winder that will last a life time, look no further. Customer service goes above and beyond if you ever have any issues. And they hold their value pretty well too.

I have a Wolf and never use it except to time new purchases/serviced watches. If you're only wearing it on the weekends, give it a gentle shake, a few turns, and you're good to go.

I asked the watchmaker about my 1959 Seamaster and he recommended a winder. He said that if kept lubed there is no major wear and tear. He said they won't overwind the mainspring either.

    Ugh. So who to believe?

    I have made this myself.
Just need some wood varnish and some small adjustments.
