don't buy a WATCH WINDER, wasted money. Run like Bond so you don't need any help. If you don't wear it you needn't keep it running
Yup My private repair shop discourages winders I always have the temptation but I always steer clear And I now avoid date complications too
http://www.omegawatches.com/fileadmin/customer_service/calleo/faq/FAQ-watch_winder_EN.pdf Follow this link. It has everything you need to know. And the info comes directly from Omega. I am a relative new member here, but I have followed this advice for some time now and have had excellent results. Bottom line: There is no reason to avoid a winder.
I have two watch winders. One for a Speedmaster triple date and one for a Temtption cgk203. Both are to much a pain to set the date hand every time I want to wear them.
Well there are pros and cons to winders, and some well-reasoned and nuanced arguments have been put forth previously. Worth a read. https://omegaforums.net/threads/better-to-let-a-watch-run-and-run-out-of-power.9366/#post-109810 https://omegaforums.net/threads/recommend-watch-winder-for-my-2254-50.12555/
I only have one automatic, my WatchCo SM300, and have it on a watch winder from Beco. It looks good and does a good job, I can recommend them. I wear the watch a couple of times a week and don't want to set it all the time. A watch winder makes me wear my SM300 more, since it's always ready to wear.
If you want the watch to be wound all the time, use a winder. If you don't, then don't. It's all a matter of convenience and they are not the boogeyman that some make them out to be. I use a 3 head Orbita winder myself. Cheers, Al
All my autos that I regularly wear sit in winders (I use these little modular ones called Boxy Bricks). I know a lot of people say that setting the time in the morning is something they like doing but I'd be more inclined to just pick up the one I wore yesterday than be bothered to set the time on another, especially if there's a date that isn't quick set.
I just bought two of these...I think they are great. WOLF Module 4.1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DCB78Y?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
They are selling a winder...there is no "advise" here, its instructions on how to use your Omega winder.
I own two of the Brookstone quad winders. I honestly use them as display cases and highly recommend them for this purpose, (purchased off of eBay 150/each). Unless you have a non quick-set watch, like my 1950's Longines Conquest, I personally wouldn't recommend using a winder.
WELL STATED Al......thank you for your professional insight. It pains me when people, with no technical background, offer advice on this subject matter......IMHO FWIW......I use a triple programmable Orbita myself and have for years.
I have the vintage thumb and finger 27 watch winder. Had it since 1971 and still working a treat. Live tropical so don't like to leave watches out whilst not wearing otherwise I would give one a go.
