Watch Strap for Omega

Hi,

My Dad left me his Omega watch when he died in 1990. The manufacture date is probably around 1980.

The strap is broken and it's not even an Omega strap. It would be nice to get an Omega metal bracelet to match.

Can someone tell me what type of watch this is so that I know what type of bracelet or strap to get?

Many Thanks!

The number in the caseback will let us know if Omega ever offered a bracelet for that watch.

As for straps, Omega has some nice ones but they're pretty darn expensive. Many of us get a good quality strap from other makers such as Hirsch or Hadley-Roma and add an Omega buckle. So that might be something worth thinking about.

You might be thinking of buying a strap on eBay; be aware a lot of those are fake.

Buckles too. 馃榿 But they're cheap, and ignorance is bliss. 馃憤

The case looks similar to a ref 166.0168 from the 70鈥檚. This ref is an automatic. Found one with a 1193 bracelet attached to it with 568 straight end links. No idea if it was originally for this specific reference.
Nevermind the refurbished case, it was the best i could find馃槣

And here is another one from a finished ebay listing. It has a 1193 bracelet as well.

I verify that bracelet appears on the list for the specified reference.

Thanks for all the replies! I really appreciate it!
I'm a novice at this... to dumb it down for me: do I look for an omega 1193 bracelet?

1193/568. First number identifies the bracelet and the second number identifies the end links. You need both.

First thing to do is contact Omega to see if they still make it.

Would any jeweler be able to open the cover or does it have to be an Omega certified jeweler?

You can try to open it with a rubber ball most of the time it went well and it`s not possible to scratch the back.
If not I would prefer a watchmaker and it`s not a must that he is Omega certified.

Hi Everyone

I've found my Dads watch Serial Number: 1360102

I contacted Omega and they said that a steal bracelet is O020ST1193568 for $450.00 plus $10.00 ground shipping!

Does this mean anything to you folks?

Do you think I could find a good used one?

Many Thanks!

That's the reference/case number, not the serial number. That is the part number for the bracelet we told you about, the 1193/568. You're not likely to find one any time soon, it's a good price for a brand-new bracelet, so just order and be happy it's still being made. 馃榾
