I haven't been much of a pocket watch enthusiast, but guess one needs something to break the ice. This watch belonged to a sort of dealer I've frequently worked with, who was looking to melt it for its gold value. So I bought it for what its 20 grams of 14k gold are worth and didn't look back. The case is in great condition considering it most probably dates from the beginning of the past century (1912 according to serial number lookups), and the movement looks and works great. I imagine the dial has been repainted at some point, but it's not the end of the world for a watch of this age.
