    Dear respectable members,

A year ago I bought couple of watches from Ebay. One of them is Omega Chronostop. Please kindly to give me opinion about this watch thus I can learn from this forum. Thanks in advance.

Dial has some spotting but its not bad at all really, movement looks clean. I'd say its a nice piece you have there, with a cool complication. Do keep in mind for servicing purposes most watchmakers charge for these at chronograph rates (ie. a lot more) even though they're a lot simpler than most chronographs.

Nice one ........... I still wonder how those 1 pushers work. Your first push to activate, second one to stop then the third one to return to 12, is that right?

Bro Lukmin, if you have problem for servicing the vintage, there are two watchmaker that are recommended by local Omega club. The first one is pak Ridwan in Bandung the second one is in Lampung. I will try to service my 1021 Constellation to pak Ridwan in Bandung next January. I will let you know his quality and pricing.

Thank you for the reply. My friend told me this watch has been refinished because the luminescence markers are too white which suppose to be (yellow)??

It varies, I've seen tritium that has stayed very white in some cases, does it glow at all in the dark?

Hello bro Herianto. Press once to activate it, then press and hold to stop it, and last release the button it will reset to 12. Thanks bro for the recommendation :)

I'd say it's very unlikely that someone refurbished that dial by only replacing the tritium dots and leaving the dial itself in this condition. And also white tritium is really not that rare. In my opinion this dial is untouched.

Precisely what I was thinking, I've seen Speedmasters from the 60s with pure white original lume, and 1680/5513 Submariners as well, tritium is highly variable in its appearance.

@ dsio and @ alingher : Thank you for the comments, now I can assume that the tritium color is variable.

    Talking about the Speedmaster ...

My inquiry is why my 1st pic of Speedmaster doesnt has yellow trim on the edge of crystal which the 2nd one has? ::confused2::

It varies depending on moisture, exposure to UV light and various other factors

Hi Omega78, are they photos of the same watch?

From what I've read, mark 4 and mark 4.5 should have this yellow seal between the mineral glass and the bezel.

Please check out Chuck Maddox's brilliant website - http://chronomaddox.com/c1045_in_detail.html,

To see some excellent examples, some of which have just been refurbished by Omega HQ

My Mk 4.5 certainly does - But I can't say that I actually like this feature, on an otherwise fantastic watch (especially for the money, as these can be picked up relatively cheaply)

    Cheers, Paul

Hi Mr. Paul, they aren't the same watch, but both of them are Speedmaster Mark IV. Btw, thanks for the link. :)

    Cheers,

I love the Chronostop. My father has got one he bought in about 1970 that he still uses to this day. For about 20 years it was his daily wearer so he let Omega service it this year and it now looks like new.
