Any recommendations for a watchmaker to service our beloved vintage Omegas? Specifically someone who has original parts for a SM300.

Really Im looking for a great watchmaker to do a sympathetic service on a 2913-3. Not sure yet what it may need yet, other than possibly a crystal, crown and a bezel to ship off to Aldo. Im not familiar with vintage Omega service as much as Rolex. With Rolex the service parts do not look the same as original parts, so when I restore a vintage Rolex my watchmaker supplies original NOS parts to keep the original vintage look...I wasn't sure if Omega was the same in this regard.

    Where are you based?

If in Europe I'd suggest STS in the UK, for USA IWW.

Wesley Grau, Cornerstone Service. The man teaches watchmaking and he actually spends the time to adjust a vintage watch.

I would strongly recommend Jack at IWW (in North Carolina). There may be a long wait, but the work will be done well.

I was a bit surprised that one of the facilities recommended here took a week to reply to my email, when they finally replied they suggested that I would need to replace the dial (based solely on this photo). WTF?? Replace the dial on a vintage 2913...thats just insane. Needless to say I will find another watchmaker.

    This is the exact quote:
"...and we may require the dial be replaced due to the damaged luminous."

    (see 6th post from top.)

one reason I'm pretty anal about who works on my watches...I ended up sending to one of my go to Rolex watchmakers. I was pretty surprised by her email. Sadly this is not uncommon, but usually only happens at the AD's service.

Not surprised that someone would suggest replacing the dial. After all, Omega themselves would too.

Clearly though, whoever did is not a vintage specialist as a collector would define it.

It doesn't worry me that much as the watch is not vintage it did need a new crystal though I'll post pics of it when I get back from my trip and when it comes in
