This was my first "serious" watch purchase ever (sometime mid 2015):

And this was my most recent purchase, which arrived last week:

I didn't even know much about vintage Longines back then. I also didn't used to care much for straps.
    What about you guys?

The one that got me started being a watch enthusiast. This was purchased 4 months ago.

Always been attracted to Omega. Funnily enough, this thread makes me realise that I've come full circle.

Less than three years ago, it would seem - had my account open on the auction site I found it on :)

The new one was a fair bit more expensive, but as always it is a case of condition being king. The first one was pretty rough (still had it pampered with an expensive service...), and the missing text on the dial can never come back. The new one I have a good feeling about :)
It is only a basic 501, I believe, but these are simple classics to treasure. And I just couldn't ignore those lovely applied numerals ::love::

As rough as the first one is, I like it, esp. those applied arrow markers!

My first watch was a vintage manual wind 14K Longines that I bought from Bob Wingate in Texas in 1988. Back then I was receiving from Bob a monthly black and white copies of watches he has in stock, and the manual wind Daytonas were going for less than $3k. Bob Wingate is still in business of selling watches, and now he does so online just like everybody else. I no longer have the Longines I bought from Wingate, but here is my latest purchase less than a week old....

The first "serious" watch that I remember purchasing [as well as currently own and use] is my beloved Seiko 6309-7049 that I purchased new in 1987 at the NAS Whiting Field Navy Exchange during Navy pilot training. I call it "serious" because I purchased it as my first dedicated flying watch...and I continue to fly with it to this day.

The last watch that I purchased is my Elgin B.W. Raymond 571 that I purchased several weeks ago from my local watchmaker...and it's been flown since purchase...good flying watch!
