I know everyone here has an interest in watches but I was wondering if any might also have an interest in mechanical locks. These are something I have collected since my early 20's when old Georgian Dublin houses were being replaced by modern carbunkles . Just thought I would tread the water gently and show one of my favourites. It's a very large Sengpiels padlock dating from the 1900's I think. Looking forward to any and all replies.

What an interesting side line, I have always admired old locks and all the hand work that was involved.

When you said "vintage locks" I thought you were referring to hair styles. :D

If you have any from the Georgian houses, please show them! I like quality metalwork of any sort, a sadly underappreciated field of artistry. Many years ago I had a beautiful door lock c. 1790 with a brass plate cut out in the shape of foliage and bees. No pics as this was well before digital photography. I sold it for what seemed a handsome profit at the time but money soon evaporates and I'd rather have kept the lock...:(
