    Hi All,

I've never demagnetized a watch before so thought I'd start here to see what you all think.

I purchased an inexpensive demagnetizer from eBay that I've seen others report success with.

That said, I think it worked as when I run my vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille by a compass it doesn't move.

That said, when I run the demagnetizer with the watch near by it causes the second hand to jump forward erratically...and sometimes it causes it to pause for a split second...but then the seconds hand goes right back to "normal."

Is this expected or normal...or could this perhaps be indicative of some other issue?

The effect you are seeing is the magnetic fields affecting the balance hairspring and the pallet and escape wheel.

The demagnetizer is pumping out a strong pulsing magnetic field, if you put down some ferrous material on the demagnetizer and energize it, you'll see the material jumping around like mad, that's what is happening inside the watch.
