HeyGuys, i'm a young lad that's considering his first vintage purchase. A local watch shop has this SDV that I've had my eye on for a few days. From the research I've done, I think it's from 1965. PRICE: $695.00 USD

The seller didn't provide as much info as I'd like but it says:
    • Dial: Original
    • Case Size: 33mm x 6.5mm
    • Movement: 17Jewels Automatic
    • Strap: Teju Lizard
    • Era: 1960s
    What I'm wondering:
    - Thoughts?
    - Is the price too high?
    - Does that crown look right?

    any help is greatly appreciated

I wouldn't pay that without movement photos. Speaking of photos, can you get better ones?

Yep, in 2 or 3 days I can. Idk if they'll expose the movement for me to photograph though..

Then I wouldn't buy it. I would certainly ask for better photos, though.

It's a front loader so taking the caseback off is not a option.
Price isn't bad for a shop.
As said above I would want to see the movement and find out if it was serviced.
( not sure if your talking about a watch shop that can service also )

If they threw in a service with a new crystal I would jump on it ;)

This is a relatively small model, I’d say closer to 32mm. I’m fairly certain it has a cal. 670 movement. Not the most desireable model given it’s small size.

They can repair. "We have a staffed certified watchmaker with 40+ years experience."

All their watches come w/ a 6 month service warranty

I personally would only pay about 200-400 dollars for it. This is a midsize De Ville, and it does not have the same "bubble" side profile that the regular De Villes exhibit. The shape is kind of distorted, and I think most would prefer the standard shape of the regular De Villes.

I recommend you go in and look at the watch in person and ask for a picture of the side profile. If you think it all looks good, then I would definitely try and negotiate down the price.

thanks, I think that's the right call. I might just get a new Tissot Heritage Visodate instead
