warped crystals on vintage speedies

Hi there, is there anyone else out there with original crystals on their vintage speedies where the crystal has warped over time? Maybe in hot climates?

My 69st still has its original short foot crystal, but is a little bit warped, probably from the Venezuelan and now Sydney sun (where 50 degree C days are becoming more common)

In the first few pages of Moonwatch Only there's a page where 4-5 exhibit the same effect, and it cant all be from polywatch!

Maybe no question here, more an observation. Keen to see others mishapen plexis.

Crystals can easily end up like this if they’re polished under a buffing wheel. As long as it isn’t flexing, I usually don’t bother replacing right away.

Yes I guess its that question of originality vs functionality. I might get it replaced at next service but keep the original for posterity.

These are the ones from Moonwatch Only

Does it looked warped straight on?
Totally fine straight on, just a bit saggy from the side like the ones above

Thanks for adding the pic, personally I would just keep the original one on, not everything needs to look perfect, that’s just my view.

Exactly, it’s not an uncommon issue by the looks of it. My 145.012 has a replacement crystal on, because the original one got chipped and eventually cracked, I would prefer to have an original warped crystal

Thanks yeah I might keep it then. I think there is a heat issue at play though as well, its more than just over polishing. The crystal actually gets hot if I wear it during summer.

That’s what I would do, but it’s all a personal choice.
I wouldn’t know about the crystal getting hot being from England lol
