    http://motherboard.vice.com/en_ca/r...ith-over-40-million-passwords-from-1000-sites

This is quite serious, according to the article VerticalScope are keeping rather quiet on it at the moment and not telling the press very much, which is understandable given the potential legal problems involved as you can see in the quote from the WuS thread at the bottom of this post.

    http://forums.watchuseek.com/f530/attention-password-security-update-3303954.html

In this thread WuS have forced a full password reset of all WatchUSeek users, which means its likely one of the sites that has been hacked. If you are currently doing a watch deal through Watchuseek, I would suggest you take EXTREME care as you could be dealing with someone who appears to be a legitimate member but is having their account used by a scammer.

This problem gets bigger as I know many of our members have accounts on WatchUSeek, Watchtalkforums, and probably also use the same password from those sites on Omegaforums. As a result we extremely strongly recommend that anyone with accounts on both consider their password potentially compromised and change their password where ever it is used (Including but not limited to Paypal, eBay, and your email account). If you don’t re-use passwords or use different passwords for different sites that’s fine but you should still change your password on all VerticalScope owned sites, which are not limited to watches but also encompass a huge number of car, motorcycle and other hobby sites.

I’m sticking this as its extremely serious, and everyone needs to take serious care when dealing with money or watches online at the moment until this settles down which could take some time as we still don’t have a whole lot of information from the company. The last reply from Verticalscope on WuS is the following:

I just visited WUS, and didn't get any 'notifications' regarding this. I changed my password anyway.

I get over there so very rarely now, but eventually, I'll need to sell off a few micro-brands on their site... that is, if it survives the hack House caving in!.gif

I got an e-mail from my University yesterday referring to this hack. Is not limited to VK as you can see below. Reading the article, it says that it was data stolen in 2012 that is now for sale on the web.

They highly suggest that I change all of my passwords.

"Nous avons reçu des informations importantes concernant votre compte
email. Celui-ci se trouve parmi les adresses dans les fuites
récentes de données de sites comme LinkedIn, MySpace, Tumblr, Twitter,
    VK, etc.

That's a separate hack, the VS data supposedly came from Feb or March this year from memory.

I received a password change notification from Netflix last night. I have no idea if it's related, but it was legit and Netflix customer service said it's related to a mass hack of some kind that potentially compromised all of their accounts. Just a heads up.

Man, when I was young "hacking" meant you were coughing like crazy or a bad golfer. But then again, there were only two types of water back then also: "tap" and "hose".
