When I had my Speedy sercived, my watchmaker said he thinks my crystal was a fake since it has a circle in the middle instead of the Omega symbol.

Hmmm. I recalled I checked for the Omega symbol when I bought the watch. But anyway...

I now remembered that I went in pretty hard with a plastic polish early on when I first bought the watch. Maybe it was me that turned the Omega i to a circle after all.

The etching is on the inside of the crystal.

The symbol is on the other face (i.e. inside the watch). If you rubbed it to that point there wouldn't have any crystal left!

@axl911, I'd be curious to see an photo of your circle-etched crystal.

@axl911 I have Polywatched many crystals even on the underside where the logo is, and I can tell you it will take a few good hours of rubbing to get that Omega logo off... Now to reach it from the outer side, well, it will require a drill....

Dammit. Didn’t realize it was on the inside.

Then either my watchmaker or I are going blind or senile!!!!

Or your watchmaker is correct: it’s fake, a circle, and on the outside. Thinking positively, that does make it easier to spot a fake. ;)

Why limit yourself? You can be blind and senile...

Anyone got a picture of this? I've seen mention many times of the Omega on the crystal, yet I cannot see it on any of my own watches, even though I'm looking for it. I'm sure it will be a palm slap once it is pointed out, but for the life of me I cannot see one...

    Pretty easy to figure out.

If the logo was on the outside, you could run your finger (or fingernail) over the logo and feel it.

If you don’t, then it must be either embedded inside the plastic, or on the inside.

In order to prove it, you’d need to remove the crystal.

This is an instance where a two dimensional photograph isn’t going to help you.

Sometimes it is very, very, very, faint and can only be seen using a loupe and/or holding the crystal at an angle.
And it is there smack bang in the middle of your avatar watch.

Slightly off topic, but roughly what year/decade did they start having the logo on the crystal?

    1950’s.

Different times for different models and/or suppliers.

Heres mine on my Speedy reduced. I’ve used polywatch 4 or 5 times in the past year and have only noticed a little bit of ‘wobblyness’ from reflections on the crystal.
