Reading the listing, the seller never once claims these are anything more than replacement dials. The listing clearly states the dial is not manufactured by Omega. Wouldn't a fake try to make potential buyers believe it's a genuine Omega dial?

The point is these are in the wild. There are plenty of people that will use these to make fake Rancheros. They will not point out that it is a new production dial.

The only slightly confusing statement is "THIS DIAL COMES FROM A NEW OLD STOCK"

The rest of the description is, as @efauser and @JimInOz say, not designed to deceive anyone into thinking it's a genuine Omega dial - in fact, quite the opposite. Whether they could be used by unscrupulous third parties in frankenwatches is not really the seller's responsibility. They could just as well be used by someone who wants to replace the dial on his own watch and has no intention of selling it on. Unless Omega wants to go after them for trademark infringement there is not a lot that can be done.

And just for my own curiosity - do Omega still sell these original dials?

You are, by your statement, accusing the seller of selling fake dials.

I think most people looking to buy a Ranchero know a real dial from an aftermarket one.

What is clear is EVERYONE SHOULD AVOID bidding on white dial Rancheros for the next few days at least until this all shakes out.

I take your point but for my concern it is splitting hairs. Reproduction dials/fake dial. They can and most likely going to be used to deceive people in the end when these are made into fake rancheros,. You point is taken and I will edit my post and retract the fake and note it.

Might I suggest that that are fake from the perspective of having been made by someone other than Omega, presumably without Omega’s permission or respect for their copyright and intellectual property? I think if the previous statement is indeed true then they could be called fake IMO.

You mean by putting the word Omega on the dial? They did.

I know they do not look that good out of the watch but some fake aged lumen on them and they can fool a lot of people.

You certainly have a point. I see that as trademark infringement, not necessarily fake, though. Fakes are designed to deceive, these aren't that. There's no doubt this is trademark infringement, assuming they have no deal with Omega.

If it were sterile I would agree with you but it is a close enough copy to my eye that I feel it is designed to deceive. Is it made by Omega or by an Omega dial supplier (like Singer etc)? No, therefore it isn’t genuine and if it isn’t genuine it is by definition fake. Where is the difference between this and a Chinese Rolex?

When you buy a Chinese Rolex you know what you are buying. Same with these dials The seller is quite specific in stating that these are not Omega dials. No deception going on here.
