In late September of this year I am turning the "big" 60! I want to commemorate this event with a purchase of a watch from the year of my birth, 1953. Would love suggestions, ideas, input, whatever you want to throw at me....no tomatoes please. My criteria: 1953 Prefer multiple dials, chrono? Dual time? Something that I could wear often, not daily but when I want to, rugged? Stainless, silver.. Metal band or a head that will accomodate one.. My Son suggested a Rolex but I am not wanting to commemorate with that much money. LOL Look forward to hearing from you....
Did Benrus make the Sky Chief that early? If so, that's a great buy and can be found in excellent shape under $2000. It would have either a Venus 178 or Valjoux 72 inside.
Those go back to the 40's. Looking that one up, thanks Dennis. Somehow I knew you would be first in on this.
My pleasure. Breitling is an option too, but they had the same calibers and are at least twice the price because '53 was the first year for the Navitimer I think. (might want to fact check me on that)
