Is there a "Watch Wanted Section" on this forum? If not it, I believe it would be great if members could solicit specific watches from members. Of course, just like the sale section there should be rules. Specifics should be one rule...no "I buy old Omegas" allowed.
Here's my method: 1) Find a watch you like pictured somewhere on the forum. 2) Nag that member relentlessly until they acquiesce and sell you it. Works pretty good most times!
Good luck getting anyone to respond to your want ad. Most sellers go straight to the "For Sale" section without checking the want ads. At least that's my recent experience.
Hey you'd be surprised, I posted a WTB for some uncommon parts lately and had two replies. The WTBs come up in the "Latest" threads section too, so they do get seen.
I agree. Ive had some success also. Often it is from people who hadn't yet decided to sell, but were considering it. They see the WTB and that helps them decide to sell.
That's what I'm hoping for! I figure there are collectors on here with dozens of watches that may let one go to help finance a new dream.
I've had good success through the WTB, both in selling and buying. Haven't bought anything through the sales forum yet. A WTB ad was useful in helping me decide that it was time to let go of one particular watch.
