I didn't spot a thread devoted to vintage Waltham divers, so I'd like to start one. I find these watches can be attractive, with some interesting dial elements and hand sets. Please post your Waltham divers and any information you'd like to share. Would be keen to see some of those bakelite bezels.

Here's a B-339 from the 1970s, which runs an FHF cal 90-5. All stainless case at 36 mm.

Nice piece. Good dial, which is also found on some of the Duward Aquastar watches. I really dig that orange sweep. Just noticed there's one for sale on eBay: shorturl.at/yAM89

I'll play.

Uncommon Waltham Electrodyne diver. Lip R184 inside, same case as the Lip Nautic 3.

Far as I can tell, this was a U.S. only version.

Sold it after the Bathyscape craze drove values through the roof, but a very nice watch.

Always something I liked picked it up a while back wear it often picked up the orange strap to match the second hand or as another member now named it “clockwork orange” I don’t like to brag but I’m pretty sure I just won the thread if not the internet.

Spotted this on that auction site, considering snapping it up. Thoughts on originality?

This doesn't seem right:

Looks fine to me, though I am not an expert on the model.

It’s fine. Nice cheap diver, probably around 36mm. This is not the $$$ era of Waltham divers, although many sellers will want to you believe they are all worth $$$

The bezel isn't a match for others for sale at higher prices. I'm guessing the correct bezel has a ring below the knurl which gives both the the crown and bezel clearance to turn. See for comparison additional eBay auctions:

Thread resurrection time (pun intended)…didn’t realize Waltham made divers until a few weeks ago. I have a few Walthams that were my dad’s, but not divers. If one were to begin the hunt for the better ones, is it safe to assume the 60’s were the decade in which to look? Are they worth pursuing as a mechanically sound, less expensive piece. (Photo added from eBay for reference. Not the best, but I do like the blue on the dial).

They were nice run of the mil skin divers for the most part- but there were several generations and price points. The vast majority are stainless cases, common off the shelf dials with the Waltham name (you will see other brands using the same dials) and inexpensive but reliable Swiss movements. There were also the chrome plated variants with cheaper movements- those I tend to avoid. The BP made ones are rare so those do garner the premium.
I wouldn’t pay more for a stainless one than I would any other generic 60’s skin diver. They are fun to collect as there were several dial variants. Just verify that it’s stainless and check the case size- there were variations from 35mm-38mm. The larger ones do command a little more money if the bidders know what they are looking at.

Old thread but I am scouring for Waltham info and came across this chat. I just bought the one I am posting and eagerly awaiting its arrival and trying to learn exactly how much I overpaid lol.

Thought I would see if you are still active in this forum. Nice watch. Do you know if that dial/movement is original to the case? I purchased a 90-5 movement, and the supply house sent it to me with that dial and hand set. I decided to try and find a Waltham case for it...just bought one today, but now thinking it might not be the original after coming across your post here. Thanks - Andy

This is phenomenal. Up there as one of the best looking vintage divers I've seen, I think.

As far as I know, it's the correct case. An image search for ref. B-339 shows a number of examples with the same case. Would you like to post what you've purchased?
