Wife does not think I should offer on the speedy....they are asking 28,500. But they did let me try it on.

Didn't take a picture of the Ed White about 50 feet down the arcade

Note to self: make sure credit card is locked in hotel safe before visiting this shop.

I'm getting excited. Name and address of this store? Might be worth it for @Jones in LA and I to hop a flight. And come back broke, but happy.
Heavily discounted businees class airfare from LAX to LHR available.

I assume this is in the Burlington Arcade in London?

Fairly safe to say it has the most expensive watches in the whole of the UK, I went in once to ask about an Omega and if looks could kill I'd have dropped down dead on the spot........I think they thought I was in there just to case the joint.:)

I truly don't know how those shops survive.

The Rolex shop I went into last month, and was offered a tropical sub for STG49,000, or about $75,000 in USD.

The staff were not welcoming, but not as bad as the shop on Bond Street near Oxford street that wouldn't let me in the door. (Dont they know who I am!!!)

London is quite absurd, when compared to LA, Hong Kong, or even dare I say it, Rome.

Yes that's the place - anything in here is at least 150% of the right price, and the staff are usually surly and unhelpful, which makes it all the more surprising that they actually sell these things. Some of the little descriptions they have are also idiotic and/or blatantly wrong. There aren't many (any?) bargains to be had along this arcade, but there's a lot of watch porn for sure. Right at the end is 'Vintage Omega' (aka Somlo antiques) and while their prices are also on the high side, at least they are pleasant and helpful. Always good stuff to look at there too...

I've been thinking about a birth year watch and that '67 Seamster would do the trick!

I was thinking about that '62 Speedmaster, but noticed the bracelet center is polished, not satin, so I'll have to say no.

It was Somlo that started me down this dark path of Omega collecting. I saw a few beautiful triple date moonphases there which I was able to go in and try on. The prices were astronomical though, so it was eBay I turned to in the end. I know the one I ended up with may not have been quite as nice as the Somlo ones, but it was a start.

That's like another world, I guess they're catering to the more money than sense crowd.
