Found a new pawn shop today...rather irked I didn't know about it for the last 3 years, as it is just shady enough for me to really like it.

They didn't have much, but I asked if they had any other watches in the safe...they did...a collection of 57 vintage watches.

Needless to say, I was excited to see them.

The only one that really grabbed my attention was an oversized Zenith that appears to be 18kt and in rose gold. It is either 37 or 38mm, and looks to be in near perfect condition.

The owner has not researched the watches and didn't put any numbers on them. I let him know I was a cash buyer and left my contact info.

My question is what watch is this, and what is a FMV range? Apologies for the crappy pics, and thanks for the info.

Well...I will go after it. Thing is, I have no clue what FMV is.

Also, should I go in strong and make an offer? The guy doesnt seem to vintage savvy.

There was a pile of 50 watches...he picked up a tiny ladies watch and said it was the best of the bunch...an IWC with a redial! He said that the Schaffausen wording was rare...I just agreed with him.

We will see what happens. Pretty sure I may run over at lunch on Monday with a pocket full of cash.

 

Had luck at a pawn shop one time in the past 15 years. Found a hamilton 992 elinvar pocket watch.

 

Ah, I see! My expertise on Zeniths is horrendously low, as this is the only one I have. I did wish it was a bumper, however the 2522C in it is running strong thank you for increasing my knowledge!

It is a Captain! Totally mint, but some marks on dial, might be able to be cleaned, but I am leaving as is...could shave with the case. Thasks to LouS for info. Found the same watch, but without Captain on the dial in Rosser.

Excellent pickup! Love them shady little pawns either in person or on the Bay with their crappy pics and rude attitude. Skinned a couple myself, but that's another thread/story for another time, don't want to hijack @watchknut's fantastic grab!

Without divulging too many details in public just yet (psst, the mrs!), got a great deal on one of the only two modern watches I ever wanted from a little pawn somewhere in greater Atlanta, that listed it on the bay. Awful pics, snappy attitude when I politely approached him about the warranty card, and a soon-to-end auction with starting price close to the reserve (of course, you get least traffic/eyeballs that wsy). Still, with more than 30pct off the forums, never mind ADs. If I were a noob, would have been a tough one. Pics were bad enough you might think it a Chinese fake. The very kind gentleman didn't think much of non-submariners, let's just say that. Got my deal of the decade, pristine watch with stickers still on, even better in person than I ever thought, full set of box/papers, almost full 5yr factory warranty remaining, extra links, etc, etc. Waayyyy below anything on OF/TRF. Love them pawns that don't know/care.

Damn son...I would have scooped that in a dirt road second! Good work, one of my favorite modern rolex...never hear much about it.
