Wakmann Gigandet Triple Date: Purchase Advice

Hi all

I am very naive in the space of vintage watches and was hoping to get some advice on a potential purchase of a Wakmann Triple Date chronograph which appears absolutely stunning. I have tried to compare the images of this watch with others on the internet and cannot seem to find a watch with the same dial and hands to compare it too, which is concerning. Would anyone be able to advise if the dial and other aspects of the watch appear genuine and original?

See the images of the watch below.

I appreciate the input in advance.

They made that model over many years and there are countless variations on a theme.

Appears original to me, and has a nice Val 723 movement in good/Ex shape.

The case appears in these pix to be heavily polished.

Welcome

This is my AOPA Val 723 Version a few years earlier than yours, mid 1960's.

The 723 wasn't offered very long.

Thank you @TexOmega for the response - I appreciate it. Given it has been polished, I understand this will take away from the value of the watch. Typically, for a piece such as this, what would the max price you would pay for this piece?

Incidentally, your Wakmann is stunning!

I’ve been out of this market for two years or so.

let other members comment on originality and value. Is it listed at some price somewhere?

Thanks for the kind words.

I have seen these before. A lovely watch and as @TexOmega said, there are many variations. But the watch appears original to me. Case and lugs have seen some polishing though.

Hope this helps.

Late to the game here, but the hand style matches the dial.

I guess the 723 bumped this one or is this the market now?

Any buyers premium to add? Taxes?

Beautiful collection, beyond elated to be joining you in owning one 😀. I've been looking to get one of these wakmann triples for a long time, but was waiting for the right one at the right price.

Pardon tagging on here. I bought this one recently, and besides needing to adjust the chrono hand, the crown
appears on the small size and thin compared to those here and in another thread.
Anybody have an idea on the dimensions of an original crown
Many thanks.

Mine is inaccessible for now (cause in vault) but perhaps you can do something with this?

My only advice on this topic is not to drop the Triple Date on the floor on the day you purchased it, obliterating it needing a very expensive repair.
