A local dealer whom I purchased my first Seamaster 165.001 cal552 (which you all kindly gave advice on) recently presented me with these 2 examples.

I've seen Ranchero's discussed widely but this design seems different, a quick search shows that ConElPueblo says this is a Waffle Dial version. The inside of the caseback shows 2938 with a cal 269 movement.

Along with that is a Omega chronometre, this I just plain know nothing about, it is very slim, almost ultra thin, with a rose gold bezel.

Would appreciate any thoughts on these 2, thanks

There’s another thread about these waffle dials if you do a search, most likely the dial is from a gold plated case.
The chronometer looks like a redial, need pics of movement and inner case back— If only to get a gratuitous look at the mouth watering 30T2RG

I will try to do that next time I'm in the shop, I tunnel visioned out on the "ranchero" today. I will try to get the movement photo maybe in a week.

The chronometer is a reference CO 2366 with a wrong (later replacement) crown,

hour and minute hands are wrong

    redone dial

bezel seems to be heavily polished

I wouldn't go near any of them... The "Ranchero" is a complete franken (couldn't they've at least used a 2990 ref. case?!?) and the chronometer is a redial. Look at the position of the "8" marker and the inked minute track ::facepalm2::

I don't know a thing about Rancheros, in fact I don't dare go near them even after collecting vintage Omegas for nearly six years, but google searching for Omega 2938 instantly showed me that this case reference is for a Seamaster. You need to be VERY careful around expensive models like this one. Best to seek out the "Learn how to fish" thread.

since the price of Ranchers has gone through the roof in recent months a genuine one's are getting more and more difficult to fine and the fake are getting harder to spot . I would body swerve both these watches save your money .
